Nearly Lost The Disco Today!!!
Was going to nip out and try my new HandHeld so started the car, popped the PSU into the ciggie lighter then turned on the drivers heated seat.
Waited for 5 mins and had a ciggie then jumped into the car and there was a puff of smoke.Thought the Chinese PSU had blown but to my horror the seat was smoking,I quickly turned the seat off and jumped out to see little plumes of smoke rising out the perforations in the leather. This lasted for approx 5 mins after i switched them off so i am assuming that the foam was smoldering still.
I mentioned this to SWMBO and she said that she had noticed that she had thought that the seat heaters were getting warmer but put it down to her imagination.I to thought they were getting warmer to the point of being uncomfortable/burning but put this down to the threadbare jeans that i was wearing.
If i had left this any longer would i be looking at a burned out wreck now
Now,i have been having the "Low Range Unavailable/Special functions off" message for the past few months,I have done the usual, changed brake lights, changed the battery,I even changed the Alternator(this was actually goosed anyway).
I was about to get a new brake light switch but then thought that it could be this.
Is there a master relay for the heated seats and surely if there is enough current going through the elements to set fire to the foam that it should have blown a fuse.
Has anyone any thoughts or experience with this issue before?
Just very thankfull that i only smoke half a ciggie now or it could have been a very different post tonight.
Thanks in advance,

I have been out and could only find 2 fuses related to the heated seats,F7 F8 under the bonnet,25A each,i am guessing they are for front and back.I could not find any in the glovebox fuse panel.Just to make sure i started the car and tried the button and to my amazement the switch was still active.
Are there any other fuses/relays that i need to remove/check?
Thanks,
BrianT
P.S.I tried posting this in faults and fixes but the site would not let me?MY 16 Landmark Santorini Black

Brian, send me a pm with email details and I''ll send the wiring diagram to you.
If I remember there's a relay in the BJB.

Thanks Donald,
Excellent doc.
Ok,Does anyone know where relay (R211) is,according to the PDF of wiring diagrams that Donald sent me it is located in Batt JCN box P108,i am guessing the P prefix is "Passenger",I could be wrong!
Having checked the guide for fuses and relays there is no R211.
help please

Brian.
remove the cover over the battery, then you will see another cover to the right of the battery. On the inside of this is a diagram of whats what.

Think they could be related? Brake switch could cause both I think. But I'd still check the relay out just be safe.
