Need help aligning

I bought a coil spring conversion kit for my LR3 from Atlantic British (http://www.roverparts.com/Parts/L319SRK-A).

I'm having trouble figuring out how to put the bolt through the strut as you can see from the pictures I've attached.

Any ideas?

Unless I am missing something obvious it looks like you just need to jack up the bottom of the new shock assembly until it lines up with the bolt hole.

Bit of wood on jack and jack shock slowly until holl alligned.

May need screw driver thru hole first. Wiggle and change for bolt

When I go to jack it up, it catches the control arm and compresses the control arm with it.

Here's a short video of what's happening:

Is there something I'm missing here? It doesn't seem possible to jack it up without moving the control arm with it.

how did you get it through the lower arm initially - reverse the procedure. Might also be the wrong thickness bush/collar etc Sad

Agree with philm
Try spring compressors and drop the unit in from the top

2 men are always useful for these dam jobs

someone under the car with a big flat blade screwdriver to leaver to strut away from where its sat to align with where its meant to be. (i.e to get the 2 holes in rough horizontal alignment.

then slowly jack it to get vertical alignment.

you could probably do it with a screw driver from the top and jack with other hand

of even your foot maybe on the strut

you are trying to stop it catching on where ever its catching on

But yeah, as others have said, you will probably end up requiring spring compressors

When all else fails - check the instructions. Here is a link to Atlantic British fitting instructions.
