Need the help of the collective knowledge base....

...again Rolling Eyes

Couple of things happening, and I'm suspicious there may be a link!

1) Just recently the car has not started a few times. Flat battery. Jump started with out issue. During the starting sequence had one of two messages. "Special Programs Off" or "HDC System Fault, System not available" (Or words to that effect). Once the car is running messages go and Terrain Response and HDC seem to be working, no annoying little "i" on the dash board info display. Local garage battery tester says battery is absolutely fine, it was fully charged when I took it in to check and was charging fine as well. They put it on charge over night and since it has started every time, once or twice only just mind. And still get get one or other of the messages.
2) Since this problem reared it's ugly head the satnav gives ETA as "--.--". it can calculate and display time to go but not ETA ???

Any suggestions?

cannot help you with '1' or '2' either for that matter other than to say mine is doing the same as '2' - I just assumed it was to do with the GPS version that doesn't support the new functions?

The satnav in the D3 (and RRS) was quite suseptable to getting screwed if the car was jump started incorrectly. Did you put the jump leads straight onto the battery terminals or on the +ve of the battery and the -ve on the chassis earth.

Lots of possibilities. The HDC fault and other messages on startup are indicative of low voltage. If the battery tests out ok, and it’s charging fine then you need to check things like are the battery terminals loose? Are the earth straps in good condition? It could be a failing starter motor.

Others have reported the —/— in the sat nav, but I’m not aware that anyone has managed to fix it. One theory is that there might be a system battery somewhere (like a cmos battery in a computer) that has died.

Those with Sat Nav issues have reported having an update which didn’t work but then after some lengthy driving, the ETA has returned.

I used to get the message '1' and always assumed that it was due to car only being used once a week.

Then alternator ( original Denso ) failed and I fitted a new ( Denso ) one

No more messages on start up even after a fortnight Very Happy

Is your alternator still the original unit?

D3 satnav are useless, wire a Tomtom into place and forget the original.

As always, lots of very helpful info Thumbs Up

On the occasions that I have had to jump start the car I have just put the jump leads on the battery terminals!
I haven't checked myself but I'm pretty sure my local garage will have done the earth strap and battery terminal checks.
It had a new alternator about a year ago so would hope it's not that, not yet!

SatNav ETA issue 'feels like' it's not getting clock info for some reason. It can calculate time to go but can't do the ETA calculation🤷‍♂️

Have you tried a Hard Reset? for the Sat Nav.

By Hard Reset do you mean go back to default settings?
If so, answer no, haven't investigated what I'd 'loose'!

I would replace the vehicle battery and have your alternator checked.

I always get message 1 and I assumed it was because it sits there for a week or so at a time.

Once I have started it, it seems to start again fine until parked for a while.

Battery sits on a CTEK too.

Battery being done today. New alternator last year so hope it's not that🤞
Is the Hard Reset a known fix for the "--.--" SatNav issue?

It is if your clock reads — —, if you have a cubby box fridge check it is switched off along with anyother electric mods that may be fitted Thumbs Up
