Last week I had a 13 pin tow electrics (Part No LVPLAT0012) to my D3. Today I was going to move my tintent to another storage site, but alas that was not to be! Connected tintent 13 pin plug to D3 13 pin socket. Test lights - D3 side lights on - tintent fog light??? None of the tintent running lights operated. Tried left and right indicators - tintent nothing?? Running engine - tintent off side indicator light on all the time, not flashing?? Got back home after abandoning the move. Tested D3 13 pin socket with my Fluke and found voltages to all relevant pins very low i.e. just below 2 volts. The only exception was the fog light pin which was 12.8 volts with the side lights on, but dropped to 12 volts when the light switch was pulled out. I am suspecting there is an earth problem, but may be wrong? Has any of you tintenters had this sort of problem.
A phone call to Lookers Bishops Stortford reveals they do not have a test board for the new 13 pin set-up, but they do for the old N & S set-up. Run silent, run deep!! HM Submarines Conqueror, Churchill, Renown, Ocelot, Porpoise, Onslaught.

Halfords have a 13pin to old style N and S adaptor. Perhaps Lookers could invest in one?A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

Cheers navigator, didn't think of that when I phoned them. I will suggest that when I go there on Wednesday. By the way the caravan lights were working perfectly with the Santa Fe I traded in for the D3Run silent, run deep!! HM Submarines Conqueror, Churchill, Renown, Ocelot, Porpoise, Onslaught.

Thanks Martin, I think you have hit the nail on the head!!!! Just spoken to Lookers on the phone, giving the info from you. With a bit of checking their end, they have confirmed you were right, Martin. Run silent, run deep!! HM Submarines Conqueror, Churchill, Renown, Ocelot, Porpoise, Onslaught.

My D3 has the "D4" electrics as the dealer (Lookers Bishops Stortford too - £94 inc vat) said they had superseded the previous 13 pin, same part no as yours too I think. Fitted them myself in the rain at dusk with a headache and a splint on 2 fingers and mine works. Not saying haha or anything, just to advise you to try and check the plugs have firmly seated by removing the left cubby door and looking at the top of the recess. There are two of them. Failing that, I think there is another join behing the NS rear light to check.
Good luck, but of course you may expect the dealer to trouble shoot it, depends where you stand really.Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:

Yep, and although the connectors are the same for the whole trailer loom, the pinouts are different on the two which connect to the vehicle loom (I've just looked it all up for you) between the D3 and D4.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Dave - are you sure the kit you were given was VPLAT0012 - there is no way a D4 kit can work on a D3 as the wiring is different 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

If you happen to live near Andover, I will use my light board and converter and check the cables for you as I did mine if you wish, long shot you being near me with a naval persuasion though, its more of a DPM area here Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:

Definately a long shot Dave, the Hoo is near Medway which used to be a traditional navy area (Chatham). The only army here now is the RE at Brompton (Gillingham), and the Ghurka's at Kitchener Barracks at Chatham, there is the Sally Army of course!!! Run silent, run deep!! Would that explain why I only got almost 2 volts on the pins, due to some sort of resistors being in the VPLAT0012 loom??Run silent, run deep!! HM Submarines Conqueror, Churchill, Renown, Ocelot, Porpoise, Onslaught.

No resistors in the D4 loom, with the D4 harness plugged into the D3 the socket is wired up wrong, so you're probably measuring the "trailer exists" or bulb/open circuit check signal as the signal you're trying to measure is on a different pin....06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
