New Accessory

Found these

http://landrover.autowebaccessories.com/st...8_7879.php

on a us site look ok and would help protect the paint work in the door sill, I have noticed mine have a few marks now, phone my dealer and they are £115 + Vat p/n EBN500041

what do you think- waste of time or worthwhile

I am also after a metal mesh dog guard soon as the scuba sesson starts in a month or so I need this so that my scuba kit doesnt fly forward but the landRover one is £135 +vat which i think is a bit steep, any surgestions re a cheaper alternative.

Cheers Neil

Neil,

I had them retrofitted to mine.

Judging by the amount of scratches on the chrome, they must be doing some good!!

I got my local dealer to supply and fit them.

I too had seen them cheaper on the web in the US, but did not want to fit myself or go to the bother of shipping and costs from the US.

If you put a bit of pressure on your dealer they will discount parts!!

Hi Neil,

PM me your email, will send pics to you as I have no way of hosting.

Also how big file size can you take?

If you have a fairly decent broadband or cable I can send them in a v high res file size if you like.

Let me know.

Thanks for advice !

Hi this is not runing boards it is a tread plate that goes just inside the door frame, it is designed to protect the paint work.

I have the tread plates too - fitted by dealer. Look snazzy more than anything else I think - but they do look good and I suppose do stop wear on the paint underneath. Make sure you foir them right: the glue is strong so wrong = re-do at extra cost.

:-) not being too serious...

Guys,

So you want to protect the paint on the door sills eh ?

So you glue a metal plate on to it... kinda makes sense as now there is no exposed paint to scratch. I'll give you that one.

But... and here is the but :

You now have a piece of metal glued to the paint so...

You now have no paint to protect, and if you want to see the paint again... you have to hope and pray the glue won't rip it off when you remove the metal plate Wink

Cosmetic or essential ?

mmm I'll stick to throwing the kids in the back of the car via the boot / trunk (so they don't clamber over the sills... and shout VERY LOUDLY at grown ups if they go anywhere near my painted sills Wink

Just one perspective.
