Soon my D3 will be in need of new boots and I'm confused with all the various options available. In fact I'm not really sure what to go for but here's my dilemma.
My 06HSE has 19" rims and currently has Pirelli Scorpion Zeros, which has been pretty good on-road, but thank god for the electronics with the D3 as off-raod it had more to do with me praying not to get stuck  than the tyres.
90% of the time the car will be for on-road use, however on the 10% or so that I do venture off-road I wouldn't mind something at little more aggressive. I'm wondering whether all 06HSE's came with Scorpion Zeros as I've heard that the factory also supplies Goodyear HP's, not sure though whether these are a bigger leap over the Scorpions.
I've look enviously at the Goodyear MTR's which by all respects sounds wonderful, however they are web hots stating that they don't live up to the hype, which is a disappointment, and of course the biggest possible concern is their speed rating, often Q (99 mph) / S (112 mph - where from though? )
So as you can see what to go for and why? do I jump to Goodyear HPs or Goodyear MTRs, and if so why and where best to but these (at ideally Disco3.co.uk discount rate!! )
I would value your recommendations, but if someone lives close by Swindon/Wiltshire, who would be willing to take me out for a spin in a D3 with MTRs I would be MOST grateful. Am I asking for the holy grail, it seems hard to find decent infomration on the web regarding tyre choice.

90% on-road... i'd stick with the Pirelli's and make the electronics work for a living 
Dunno about the bad reviews of the MT/R's, they've done me alright, wouldn't want them as 90% road tyres though...

Damn, got carried away and hit submit.
What I also am looking for in a tyre is longevity, which is certain not good on the currnent Scorpion Zeros. At this rate I'll need to be changing them pretty soon, and only will have done <20,000 miles.

Michelin Synchrones will not disappoint you. Mine have done 20k and still only 1/2 worn. Off road they are not bad, and they are very quiet on the road.

Why should that be a big concern? 1. the proportion of time that you will intend to spend above 99mph should ..I hope.. be minimal  2. real speed rating tolerances should give you at least 10%+ above 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Thanks for the infomration.
I'm not one for excess speed, it's just not worth it over 100 mph nowadays and the D3 is hardly a sports coupe, however I was concerned about the ratings especially the Q rating since this is alot closer to normal cruising speed ~90 mph and didn't even think about a factor of safety.
It seems that the Synchrones are perhaps a good alternative to the Goodyears then, I'll check these out.
