NEW D3 OWNER IN NEED OF ADVICE - SUSPENSION

Hi and can I just say I love my Landrover which is an 05. I have had it for 2 months and a couple of days ago i turned a corner a bit quick and the Air Suspension Light came on (amber). Once turned the ignition off then on again it disappeared. This has happened a few times now and today done the same but I had to pull out quickly from a junction when this light was on so it then briefly went to red. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN (apart from probably mega bucks??)

I would love a simple easy, cheap answer!!!!! I have just received my new alloys today and would so love to keep the car but cannot help thinking i might have to get rid.

PLEASE HELP!
Crying or Very sad

(I am not very technical as I am a wumman!)

Hi and welcome to the forum Thumbs Up

Firstly - I have to ask this "are you sure it was the suspension warning light" (I know, sorry Whistle )

Assuming you are sure, probably the best thing to do, if it keeps illuminating is to pop into a dealer or independant who has IDS (or T4) diagnostic capability and have them interrogate the DTC's (fault codes to you and me)

They shouldn't charge much to tell you what they think is the problem and go from there

It does NOT mean the suspension has gone belly up, it might just be a software issue Rolling Eyes

And lastly Don't get rid of your D3 just because of this, you WILL regret it 8)

Steve.

Hi,

Just had this happen on my 55 plate D3

Took it to the local independant garage and they checked it out on
their computer, faulty compressor was the diagnosis.

I'm now £450 worse off but the car is better.

Get yours in to the garage to be checked out.

Hope this helps

Welcome to the site, it's full of info for newbies as i've found out.

Martin

Thumbs Up

You sure its Not the DSC light.....If the D3 senses wayward travel it will cut the power till the systems catch up....You say you have had it a few times, again could be the DSC....

If you want to eliminate the possibitly, check ALL tyre pressures and Wheel Bearng Play

Thanks Guys,

I will phone the LR garage today to get put on the diagnostics machine. I am sure its the air suspension warning light that was on as I double checked before making a fool of myself!

My new alloys were put on the car yesterday and went out for a spin and no light came on. I have to add that since getting the car it keeps going down and up when going into the car (access height thingy) and I turned it off but sometimes it lowers automatically when you get out of the car. Mind of its own I thought....

I am hoping its something simple as it looks the dogs b's!!! Going to put on my bling trim at the window edge today (thanks to Disco3 tip) and give it another good wash. (as if that will improve its fault I know)

Now I have to ask, what is the DSC light???

Dynamic Stability Control, keeps the D3 in control through corners amongst things. Can be fooled if you have low pressures in Tyres or wheel bearing play....when the DSC lights comes on the dash, it also cuts power until stability is regained.

Going back to your last comment, when you get out of your D3, even with no keys in the ignition the D3 will self level and you will hear the air being used.

Angela, This could be normal.

You will find that a few minutes after switching off the car it will automatically adjust the suspension as the car settles down for its kip until it next needed. The amount of adjustment varies if parked on an incline

So, if its just a small adjustment then you may not have a problem but if the car is really going into off road height then you could well have a problem that is linked to your warning lights.
