One other thing if you have a removable tow bar don't leave it in place or the pikeys will have that as well Cheers Ian

I have the LR extended warranty until end of January 2018, I am considering renewing it. Is it worth it?
But consider carefully which warty co you go with. Pros and cons to all, just coz it has a pretty LR badge doesn't mean it's the best to go for. Especially if the crank goes.

Cheers it has the main dealer warranty on there, it is not cheap >£1k/p.a. but covers upto £20k of issues which should be a new engine. I priced that into my ownership to be honest.
The car was great value, paint work was severely scratched but it had been on a farm and country lanes for a lot of it's life. However it has FSH with all the invoices, done 82k miles and the cambelts have just been done.
I have given it a good detail, at KDS Keltec in Gillingham who have made it look great.
It is a family car, 3 kids (all boys and under 10), 2 dogs and the wife. We live on the edge of the Ashdown Forest, enjoy mountain biking and walks.

Probably worth getting a gearbox flush done ASAP assuming it hasn’t been done . Find your local site flush man on this site

Warranty Direct will cover wear and tear of parts so is worth looking into. Plenty of posts about experiences - good and bad.
All I know is that, since my LR Approved Used warranty expired a year after I bought the car (when it was 4 years old), the repairs that they have paid for have more than covered the cost of the warranty I took out.2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze
2012 - FL2 2009 GS Stornoway Grey
2001 - VW Passat Estate Inky Blue
1999 - Ford Mondeo Light Blue
1998 - Rover 25 Red

Interesting, I gave them a quote and they are half the price of LR. They also quote 'wear and tear', as an experience car owner, anything could be considered 'wear and tear'.

Whether wear and tear items are covered with the LR warranty is a bit of a lottery sometimes. I think that everything has a life expectancy to them. If your wheel bearings fail and it's under a certain mileage, they will change them. If over that mileage, they'll throw it back at you saying normal wear and tear for example.
But the big thing, what you really want the warranty for, is if there's some catastrophic engine failure costing thousands to fix, or a new engine. That's when it should really count and having that covered gives you peace of mind.

By the way, I've got a 2010 XS. Great minds...The only optional extra on mine is a factory fitted reversing camera. Very useful!
