New Disco - what would be on your mods list?
Well I have done it, paid the deposit and waiting for my new baby to be prepared by the stealer. My 08 HSE (with cold climate pack and convenience pack) will be ready for collection middle of next week.
So my mods question is this. I will be using the Discovery for family and business, with the occassional bumble off-road - from all your experiences, what mods have been the best investment, and which ones were the biggest mistake?

Best investment a sump guard, another midlands member has one for sale not far from you. Check the for sale & wanted section.
Next best is some more 'chunky' tyres. You've got HSE, so 19" rims, MTR's if youre more serious or ATR's
Worst - Side steps, rubbish off road, just get bent up & the trim falls off
Most of the mods you make will be down to how you use the D3 & what you want it to a) look like or b) practicalities of family usage!Bodsys Brake Bible

Tell you what, bring your new beast to the next Midlands meet up (not til September now sadly) and we can all give you our wizened knowledge on what you should buy (and examples of them already fitted/moded etc).
Next meeting is at the Bull @Shenstone on September 6th

Actually, apart from the sump guard, the best investment for me is the Auxillary battery and the Engel Fridge. By far the most used for camping and days out and any other number of activities. Bodsys Brake Bible

Sump guard is the first one, not so much for the guard bit as the fact that it makes the front recovery eye easily accessible - undoing all the clips to remove the current plastic cover is a pain at the best of times, and doesn't bear too much thinking about if you're stuck in foot deep muddy water.... The back cover is only two clips, but should still be undone before you go off road!
The sump guard also of course looks good 8)

Yep, the best Beer Fridge!! Saying that mine is in the kitchen full of lamb at -18c, makes an excellent overflow freezer!

I've not heard about Engel fridges before, but I have to say they do look the mutts nuts!
Thinking that a sump guard is first on the list...

Engels are seriously good, not cheap but well worth it. Will keep beer or food at desired temp even when car is parked up in sun and ambient is over 40c, as on last year's Tunisia trip.

If they work that well, then it is ideally suited to keeping bottles and food cold for my baby daughter when we are away or camping... I think that justification with SWMBO may just fly
