New to Disco3
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum, got D11 G4 2003 Team support vehicle used in Australia. I'm thinking of changing to a TD3 TDV6 later in the year hopefully. Now I now that the fuel consumption will be very much much better than what I get at the moment and that auto's will always be worse than manual gearbox's, but how does the auto compare to the manaul gearbox in a TD3.

Hi G4mudman and welcome to the bible of Discovery 3's ...
I say the bible because although you'll find this a great resource of wisdom on the D3 ......you'll also find a lot of bull and hot air..................mostly from me
I'm sorry to hear that your only thinking of buying a D3 ....why punish yourself? Of course you are right to think that the auto's fuel consumption is less than the manual ..but it's such a great box I wouldn't care if it were 10mpg less 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

go for the auto! great box and unecessary to have a manual with the D3s box of tricks. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I'm getting 25-26mpg with mixed rural driving and commuting. Will be off for a 1600mile jaunt across France at the end of next week, fully loaded with a roof box and will report back on fuel when I return.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
