I don't know yet, I bought them for the coming dark nights as I travel on unlit roads regularly on the West Coast.
I've not been out in the dark yet.
Doing a few miles in the next week to and around the West coast of Ireland so fingers crossed

There was a post a few months ago ref really cheap 35w D2S bulbs, somehting like 12/15 quid the pair, so i booght some out of curio and fitted them and have to say they were brighter than the old original bulbs and they are still working!

Yep, same here.
My HID bulbs were original factory fit and had definitely lost whatever it was they used to have.
I too replaced them with cheapo eBay specials and the improvement was very noticeable and they're still going strong.
I honestly believe money spent on expensive branded bulbs is money wasted but if you want to splash out, be my guest.
I think the first set I bought were 4200k and were a bit yellow so I bought 6000k and was very happy with them, they do represent great value. £15.99 or £120 per pair, you decide. Mods:

I too bought the Ebay specials (2 sets) last year and at the outset they were as good as what had been fitted prior to my obtaining the Discovery but very quickly I found the coverage and brightness wasn't as good as the originals as they seemed to diminish quickly.
As I said I travel mostly on unlit roads and at this this of year we have numerous deer grazing at the side of the A82/A83 and any small gain in coverage and brightness would be of benefit.
I paid £82 for the nightbreakers delivered and will be trying them over the coming months and hopefully will benefit from them, if not rest assured I will be returning to the Ebay specials.
But, as I've heard numerous times
Buy cheap, buy twice
which has stood me in good stead over the years with Land Rover parts including the pattern parts that are often supplied in blue boxes amongst others.
Had I been driving in and around large cities with street lighting I would no doubt stick with the cheapies

Undoubtedly there will be some drawbacks with the eBay specials, and I suspect longevity will be the main one, however for the price you can replace them annually and still save money.
I think I've had them in coming up 3 years and they are still very good. Mods:
