i reckon the next edition of discovery will be the electric - diesel hybrid. 20 miles on the electric motor alone and a combined range of 86 mpg. It will have a nicer looking front grill as well. Reckon Jan 1213

I agree, styling of the HSE+ is a bit 13 th century bling. Hopefully, King John will be able to rock up to sign Magne Carta in something a bit more suitable.
What worries me most is that all editions, luxury blings, upmarket movement, only regards equipment.
In the good old days, special editions had a special engine (RR LSE 4.2)
On the D4 there is the diesel or the diesel, no V8 petrol available.
Don't know why they have withdrawn the 5.0 from Europe (well, it's available in France as SE and HSE).
The same for FFRR and RRS, you go from diesel to supercharged, no N/A petrol.
Who is the humanoid working as a product manager for LR? I guess a banana could do better

It is purely from a cost point of view, people moan enough about the road tax for diesel models, don't forget it will be even more on the petrol models in most countries...... And then there is the fuel economy which is never going to match that of the diesels........2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

There was one parked up last week at the Canary Wharf Motor Expo. Overly metallic paint, very plush inside - not a Land Rover IMO. In some ways it looked blingy sat alongside the Range Rover! I am sounding old now so will stop Bonatti Grey with Tundra, Duratracs, DISCO3 sticker, De-badged then rebadged in black, EGRs blanked - still saving for IC and BAS remap...

Bearing in mind Disco 4 starts treading on the toes of the current FFRR, D5 will be expected to lift the bar on the D4 and that the new FFRR is going to interstellar territory I'd say it's a sound move to keep ahead in the luxury 4x4 market as the new FFRR will almost be in a class of its own.
This also dips its toes in the water just like the special edition FFRR did to see if people were nuts enough to go to 90k for an FFRR... they were!!
As long as they keep the more basic variants of the Discovery for mere mortals as well then why not I say....
If I were forking out the thick end of 55k +
I would want more than a shiny badge that told me & others it was an HSE
The leather is nice...but HSE's always had leather...HSE were about features not bits of trim that USA cars get as standard
LandRover ought to get a grip on the way thier marketing handle the specifications of vehicles & ensure customers get what they want...HSE used to mean all the toys (again I have to say it rear AC systems)
...if there ahs to be bling to sell it in my opinion they have lost the plot...totally
& please give us back the engine oil level dipstick as an option.BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Personally I would hope that the Discovery could be kept well below the FFRR and the RRS in terms of pricing, otherwise LR stand to loose a lot of loyal customers....
The next Discovery has to be affordable otherwise there is little point in releasing it........affordable not just in the European pricing structure but also in terms of running costs.
Ideally, the next Discovery should cost £50k maximum for a HSE and start at £30k for a base model.2016 Discovery 4 Commercial

Actually you might be right there... I meant to put 90k+ as I wasn't sure if it was over £100k or not but you saying 125k rings true...
Either way it was pushing in to the 100k+ market and I believe the HSE+ is performing a similar exercise for the top end of the Disco brand, they're seeing how far it can reach now the new FFRR will go inter-stellar.
Completely agree that the Disco needs to keep a base model and pricing that's true to its roots as a utility vehicle unless of course they bring in a new vehicle for that role...
Personally I'd only trade the D3 for a D5 bearing in mind I want to keep it a fair while yet and only got it in April... so I'm just as keen as everyone else for it to be kept affordable... however, I can see LR/RR's potential thinking here for the crossover vehicle HSE+ -> FFRR Vogue
I would love a 7 seater Range Rover.... The Disco in top spec is pretty much just that in my book

There have been rumours of 7-seat RRS for a while. I think £125k is right, or at least I think I saw that figure quoted in Car magazine not that long ago. ISTR that LR themselves were surprised how well it sold
