New rear break pads after only 8k miles
My cars in at the dealership today due to problems with the park brake and battery problems and my dealer just rang to say that the rear brake pads are 80% worn already after only 8k miles is this normal? The service manager says that they are finding this the norm for both the D3 and the RRS.
Told them to change the pads as they said it would only cost me £75 if they did it now as they had the rear wheels off already (only £18 labour!). I should also get this price discounted too as Im signed up on their 3 year service plan. Was thinking of changing the pads myself until they told me the price.1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Thanks Pelyma think I will contact LR CS and have a word tomorrow and see what they say about it.
Not getting my D3 back until the morning now as it has power problems, apparently the indicator on the battery is black.1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Could this be the reason why I need new pads so soon? Anyone TFC etc?
The report at my 15k service said rears 70% worn, front 50% worn. A lot of my miles are on bendy roads, and I have a fairly leaden right foot, so I think I'm doing well. 80% worn at 8k sounds abysmal.

Auto box vehicles will always use pads far more than manuals. has a manual, and the motorway driving will make a difference too.
It all comes down to your driving style and usual conditions.

You could always take the train........
I made the decision that it was time to get out of London sitting in the car in Walton Street..............it took me 105 minutes to go 2.5 miles and I decided enough was enough.

Problem is train would cost a fortune and take bloody hours. Also would have to change at least 3 times... and I bet they dont sync timetable wise either
My seat in the D3 is far preferable moving or sitting still than a train any day.
See your point though.

I can confirm that the train DOES cost a fortune but DOESN'T take hours (since I don't live too far out in the sticks)
Auto & Sand work just fin in Ken's town!
Which is good coz it took me 5 bl**dy hours to get here today!Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
