New software affects auto transmission?? |
|
Can anyone help. Just had my first service and was told by dealer that the software had been updated. All OK but I have noticed that the auto-box is behaving differently, i.e. changing gear at different rpm than prior to the service. Is the driver style self learning effect lost after a software update, will I need to retrain it? *Disco3 7-seat Auto

Sounds like it just needs to relearn your driving style. Has happened mine several times, even disconnecting the battery seems to cause it to loose what it's learned. IE - 05 D3 TDV6 HSE - Zambezi Silver
SA - 07 VW Golf TDI - White - Sold!

What is this?
I have a problem with my auto box in that when coming to a standstill it does not change down quick enough and then"Snatches" on takeoff.
Is it my driving style or a dodgy box or setting?

This is a known issue Steve, ask your dealer to apply the fix detailed in TSB LA307-003
Summary:A customer may report a concern that when the throttle is re-applied following deceleration in traffic and the vehicle is almost coming to a stop, the gearshift is harsh and results in a thump or bump when the transmission shifts from second to first gear. The problem can be intermittent and can vary depending upon the amount of throttle that is re-applied.
Cause: An automatic transmission software calibration issue is the cause of the above complaint.
Action: Should a customer express concern regarding the above, refer to the Service Procedure detailed in this bulletin to update the control module software. The End

Slimer,
According to my copy of TSB LA307-003, it is for 4.4l gasoline engine with auto box, I am not sure this applies to TDV6 engine as well (as shift point, RPM, torque curve are different).

Mine was serviced in december and SW was upgraded too.
There is certainly difference, at least on manual mode. Torque converter is very reluctant to lock up in 1,2,3 and 4th gear. 5th and 6th appears to be same as it used to be. On my opinion, this was a change for wrong direction.
I'd like to use TDV6:s excellent torque but do not want go to manual
