Now that's progress! Now am I right in thinking that Nokia has just withdrawn the 6230i?

The 6230i was already Bluetooth compatible. This must be for the cradle. The Nokia 6230i has been shipping for about a year.. so I doubt it's withdrawn, even though it's not much different than the very old 6230.

Be aware that with a 6230i the little joystick can get pressed when closing the cubby box lid. Can cause some anomalies..
I tried both (we have both phone types at work) and settled on the 6230 as the most robust physically.
Doesn't happen with a 6230 - since the button is flat.

The only major differences between the phones are better screen resolution, better camera, USB connectivity and more memory in the 6230i.

A note of caution on this upgrade: it is user requested and is not a warranty update - in other words, you'll be charged for the work. As far as I can tell, this is the only software upgrade that LR specifically state cannot be claimed under warranty.

The cradle is made for the Land Rover PTI specifically.

I would hope that most people who wanted the update would get it for free - but the TSB specifically states that the dealer cannot claim the upgrade as warranty work.

My dealer wanted to charge me £100 plus vat, but I managed to negotiate it down to £50 plus vat. BE AWARE BEFORE YOU ASK FOR THIS UPGRADE!! When the dealer tried to download it to the car, the vehicle wouldn't take the software. They had to send the codes generated by the car to Land Rover for them to look at and are still awaiting a response. I got the car back yesterday and the bluetooth didn't work at all! The dealer picked it up this morning and managed to return it to its original state with the bluetooth working again. It turns out that there is an issue with this software which Land Rover are aware of. They told the dealer this today and have asked the dealer to not do any more downloads until the issue is resolved.

The 6230i is not listed as Bluetooth compatible in the Land Rover (PTI) Approved Telephones document LRE092ENG dated November 2005 found on the Land Rover Owner Information website.

Is there more recent information showing it is Bluetooth compatible?

My 3 week old TDV6 has just been into the dealer. They have informed me that my car already has these patches.

And they are NOT to make the cradle compatible ! Its a hardware issue?!?

They said there is a new cradle for the 6230i on it's way.

I can confirm that the 6230i works in the 6230 cradle that Landrover provide if you have the software patches . All functions work perfectly . I have just had this done to my RRS .
