Unlikely you will have seen it as "1 sold" in the advert. I think it might restrict the type of wheel that can be stored underneath, but I'm not about to go measure it!

At least Ray's seems like value for money ie you get a decent chunk of metal, but again a simple idea that would probably cost Land Rover £20 to incorporate into the car at build Evil or Very Mad

Yeah it sounds so easy doesn't it Wink ...however you have to design it for easy use, have it type approved, crash tested, etc Smile

The whole car yes is type approved, but surely one minor amendment does not need type approval or am I missing something ?

No they can't just add bits willy nilly ....specifications are frozen upon certificate issue ...though there is a mechanism for very minor technical changes to pass through without full certification, OEM accessories or new additions fitted are likely to require some level of approval and \ or testing.

It is far less hassle and yes cheaper from JLR's perceptive for third parties to deal with a modification to beef up security beyond normal use.

…and the cable run….

Not keen on the posh side of the wheel facing the mud and ruts either. About the only plus is not having to install a tyre valve extender.
