New torque convertor fault

Hi guys just wondered if anyone knows what the fault can be in the pic
Had new torque convertor fitted 700 miles ago and never been happy with it
It drives fine but always has had a noise
Since and even though a gearbox specialist said it’s ok I never really beleave that tbh
So today I pulled my caravan for the first time as guess what a fault code came up
Any ideas what this could be please doing my head in now

blimey mate ur having a right bit of fun with this, Not Big Cry

wonder if it’s now going to cost u a mechatronic unit , or even the gearbox stripping down

the very knowledgable guys here will know , unless it’s the loom

did u get rid of the dexron vl out of it , wondering if getting the correct oil in there may help

hope u don’t mind me saying he doesn’t sound much of a specialist , know that doesn’t help u

Yes have got rid of oil but as it was dextron 6 is fine
For it anyway
They are a big company that only do gearboxes and even after he said nothing to worries about I still wasn’t convinced and today after pulling the caravan and have transmission fault kind of told me that I am right
Yea I did ask a cost for torque convertor and box and it was roughly 1500 which tbh if it then cures it I would pay

please don’t shoot the messenger Laughing , but i was curious myself about the dexron vi

i emailed two companies, one of them was ZF themselves and both said it wasn’t suitable , it was just a heads up to ur good self

know that doesn’t help u

have they given u any form of warranty with the new tc , hope it can be resolved without an eye watering cost

On another note that when I lift off the accelerator sometimes the revs don’t always drop straight away sometime it’s as if the revs stick and then drop at the same time the noise goes
When it makes the noise it sound like a tappy engine but it’s not as if i coast in neutral and rev the engine the engine is as quiet as

It does sound like one when de accelerating but rattles in neutral and been under car and is very noisy from inspection hole in bell housing

A few company’s have quoted 1250 for recon box carnt be much more with convertor at same time surely
There all plus vat but as I just register for vat with my business I can loose the vat there
Just love the car so much and pulled my 8 meter caravan like it wasn’t even on the back so even if has to have new box I’m sure it be worth it than selling and getting another dog

Is that when driving along??
If so sounds like an issue with the lock up clutch not detaching.

I had that with the GM box on an X5 - Could actually stall the car!!
My issue was an air lock in the TCC circuit. But was not accompanied by the noises you are saying.
GM Box was very particular in the way you re-commission it during re-instatement. I stripped that box 3 times to get it perfect.

The ZF was fitted to the later X5 (MY 04 on) and from being on those forums that box was a pain too!

Could be the TCC valve not playing ball or not venting down.
If things were meant to be easy, then I will soon complicate them....
Please note...
Anything I say is only from my personal experience and knowledge..
I don't assume to know everything, and know there is a lot I don't know..
But then I could be talking Censored .. OSmile

When I wanted a torque converter fitting, Bristol Transmissions wouldn’t just fit a TC without overhauling the gearbox as well, said it’s false economy,

Amp
Yes came up with that code when driving
Had just pulled my caravan which went ok but was a bit noisy when lifting off the accelerator and between 40-50 is a bit noisy drives
Fine though just a bit worried something not right some where but it’s been noisy since having a new convertor put in its not noisy at all sitting still in drive or reverse And when I’m accelerating apart from between 40-50 it is
