Yes driving along the A27 near Portsmouth and a stone hit the screen at night, saw a small star effect and thought better get it filled with resin, following day crack has appeared about 18" long
I'm with Tesco Insurance and they use National Windscreen the guys have said they only use Pilkington Glass so it should be ok, any tips i need to know so I can remind the fitter.?

They should use new clips on the trim on the outside of the pillars. The old ones may hold but they have a tendency to fail when re-used meaning that the pillar trims fly off at speed sometimes.

We recently had the windscreen on our Mini damaged, which meant a new one. The fitter arrived with various spare trim parts and clips, so as the above post says, it seems to be their practice.

I had this sort of problem when my D4 was only 3 months old.
Autoglass in Basingstoke replaced the screen with an original LR, due to the age of my D4. They did a really good job. The fitter said that the screen had cracked as the stone had hit the blackened area, which is thinner glass than the clear area.
They replaced the clips and new black strips on the sides. No problems since.
I took it to them as i didnt want the work done outside as its sods law that it would be raining when the work was to be done.

Whoever does the job make sure that they at least use new A pillar trim clips otherwise you could end up with water leaking into the foot wells

To good to be true.............
Weather lashing it down, fitter rings up saying about the weather, I point out that they can use one of my industrial units nice and dry etc....
They turn up at 16.30 and I think great as i have a 400 mile drive to do tomorrow
Then the two screens they have brought both have the vin plate window on the bottom of the screen and mine is on the side 
Now trying to get them to get one down to Cornwall when I get back on Thursday

Never heard of that before?
Does that now mean there's two different designs of screen for the D4, on top of the heated/auto wipe versions?

Yep just had mine done was asked which year it was early d4 had the vin window at the bottom. 12 plate and onwards have it on the side. SSDD.

What a load of c@rp - thinner glass in the black-out area 
Also watch out for bodgers that glue the A post finishers back on rather than replace clips........it happens

I have a crack on mine which started from a very small stone which impacted in the black area under the passenger wiper at the bottom of the screen.
The edges are the weakest areas of these screens as I have had several large impacts in front of the driver which only resulted in a bulls-eye.
Once I replace this screen I will put some clear poly tape under where the wipers sit on the lower edge. Hopefully it will prevent this type of crack again. (This tape is what is used to protect the leading edges of helicopter blades) Fuji White D4 2012. Reversing camera, E-diff, Hi-line sound, Xenon lights, ARB bullbar with Lightforce xenon lights and cargo barrier

Well just had a call to say the St.Austall branch are sending 2 guys down to fit it this morning
