NFU - awful reviews

I am starting to prepare for the renewal of my motor policies.

I have always considered NFU to be "first class", since my late father was insured with them for many years, and they were toward the top of my list.

I started considering published reviews on TrustPilot, 53 reviews:-

Bad 75%
Poor 4%
Excellent 21%

source:- https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.nfumutual.co.uk

I must confess to being surprised by this; although two neighbours who have been insured with them for many years have both gone elsewhere. One over levels of premium and the other because of extremely poor claims handling.

What experience do you have of NFU ?

My home and the last have been insured with them and overall they’ve been great (except when they cancelled cover during the beginning of our building work which was swiftly resolved) We have had claims and all paid swiftly.

From a minor claim record, my experience has been exemplary over some 25 years with motor insurance although I took one vehicle away from them last year due to premium hikes

I have always found them to be fair.
Our own experience with the only claim we have had, albeit a large claim, was settled within a couple of weeks, when it could have been so different if they'd had argued.
We do pay quite a premium, but feel this is because they have made sure we have the right level of cover.
(buildings, motor trade, cars, stock etc etc.

A friend of mine has just completed a flooded house claim & found them to be good.

The cars which we have seen, insured by the NFU and been write offs, the customers have always been pleased with the payout amount.

This is in contrast to many other policies I have witnessed how they wriggle, pay out a bare minimum.

I think their prices rises have been because of a sensible attitude to very little quibble on a claim.
regards
Steve

I've got my tractor with NFU, best price bar far. Seem easy to deal with.

Will consider moving the D3 to them at renewal time.

We use them for the farm but not the cars, never had much of issue with them.

Personally I take a lot of these review sites with a pinch of salt, self selecting samples mean you get the opinions of those what to share their opinion.

Been with NFU for several years after LRIns decided they didn’t know their arras from their elbow, should have been with them from the start. Never claimed but very happy with them. Thumbs Up

Went back to them after their prices almost doubled. Had 1 claim when my son wrote his disco1 off and they paid the full amount in just over a week. Been with them 3 years now and I can't find a better price or level of service.

I can't praise them enough. I've had superb service from them, especially when my D4 was smashed up by falling masonry, which wasn't a straight forward claim.

Currently, they're also the cheapest premiums I could find for all of my vehicles.

Outstanding service from NFU in insuring the Fatty Thumbs Up

The best level of cover (including trailer and leaving windows open, when parked, for my collie’s benefit), great service, free instalments and the best price by a country mile. I’ve had to claim for a replacement screen and they authorised a real screen to be fitted without any delay.

Insure me with a Cobham postcode, though that started out as an Usk postcode. Whistle

I need to get a cow/donkey/sheep/horse. Having a personal gate onto Wimbledon Common must be worth something. Might try again, you never know,

I can never get past the post code question, as soon as I say LS27 they tell me it’s not a rural area and they don’t insure in my post code area.
