Overall we are delighted with this vehicle, but there are a few niggles :
1. There isn't a proper clock in the vehicle. The only time read out is on the radio, which is didgital, dim and not in normal sight line. Does anyone know if it is possible to have the time read out in the main console computer readout ?
2. The rear tailgate button needs to be pushed twice to open it. Is this normal ?
3. Lots of dirt gets through the load bay floor into the rear 3rd row seats. Using a thick rubber mat stops this, but then you cannot use the 3rd row without offloading that mat.
4. I really miss the map pockets and baggage nets that hung from the ceiling in the tdi and td5 discos.
5. Second row centre seat head rest doesn't fold away when not in use, so limits rear view. The TD5 had an excellent fold away mechanism for this item.
6. The weight of this vehicle is more when empty than a Volvo XC90 is with a full load of 7 passengers ! The designers should be ashamed ! Can anyone explain why this huge additional weight ?
7. Fuel consumption is much worse than I had been expecting / lead to expect ! Disco 4 TDV6HSE

I would agree with most of your comments. I too really miss the overhead storage, I suppose the lower roof line makes this necessary.
My tailgate opens first time, but you have to press the unlock button on the handset twice to unlock all the doors, this catches me out regularly.
I know what you mean about the dirt! it is a tricky car to hoover out!
Does the centre head rest not remove? (my car is away at the moment so can't check)
It is a heavy beast! probably something to do with the combined monocoque AND chassis. It is much more of an off-roader than the Volvo.
Fuel consumption is heavy, I am getting 23mpg around town. The best I have got so-far was 26mpg, on a long run at steady 70mph.
Still, it is a good car, and in the snow at christmas it was extremely capable. Mine got up a long icy hill in the Peak district, that had got a number of 4x4's, including a TD5 Disco and a 300 series Disco stuck!

Anyone found a way to stop a rubber loadspace mat from moving around in the rear. I have a large dog, 12st Bernese Mountain dog!! and I knew there was good reason why I need a 4x4  but he's unsettled as it moves around quite freely. As all the other rubber mats in the car are screwed down, why on earth didn't they do the same for the loadspace mat.
I'm thinking about using velcro, but on the D2 it didn't work. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I'm even thinking how I can attach the mat using the tie down points, shame LR didnt think a little about this too.

Al,
I know it's been a while since you asked the question re load-space mat but here's my reply...better late than never....
I opted for the Load Space Protector rather than the basic mat. The Protector has small sides on it. I too have got a large dog and he is fine on the Protector, it doesn't move about at all, quite a tight fit actually.
Hope you get things sorted for your hound.....

I too have quite a big boxer dog, but no where near the size and weight of yours!!
I have the loadspace mat, and had the same problem.
I part cut out the areas where the loadspace hooks go and leav them thru it in the upright position, this seems to stop it sliding.
My mutt would panic big time, so it must be working, he comes everywhere with us!!

Gareth is the door locking not a selectable feature with the option of driver only on 1st press (for security) or all (for convenience)? I thought I had to set it up that way somewhere in the features menu? Mine is at the garage so I can't check meantime!

I think the 2 stage unlock (drivers, then all) is selectable, but not from the driver settings menu's. To set or unset, you have to hold the lock/unlock buttons together for 3 seconds.
What I meant about the tailgate, was that when all doors are unlocked, it always opens. I presumed that someone was having an issue with having to press the tailgate release more than once to open it. My Wife has a Mini with an electrically released hatchback (similar to D3) and it sticks regularly, and has been back to BMW for adjustment several times.
