Having done that job myself on my own D3 I can confirm as everyone else has said that the body doesn't need to come off.

I did it laying on my back under the jacked up car, and sitting cross legged in the spare wheel's spot once it was out of the way. The trick is to undo the bracket the module is bolted to rather than try to remove the module from the bracket.

Don't get me wrong, it's a pig of a job, and would be really easy with the body removed, but it doesn't seem worth the agro of removing the body just to do it.

Either the garage don’t want the work or don’t know what they are doing, find another garage.

ok, so this can only be the icing on the cake of a nightmare few days.. so the story goes..
booked my car in(thursday) for full service and prop centre bearing at the garage i have used for the last five years without any problems.. they have been in business for over 25 years and have a good reputation locally..
received a call later on same day to say car was ready to collect, all done.. great.
1.5 miles up the a38 on the way home , massive bang and flailing noise from under neath, approx 60 mph, Big Cry Big Cry managed to park on grass verge and phone said garage who quickly sent out two guys with a tow bar in a 4x4, told them i wanted it recovered due to noise etc, so they gladly obliged,

40 minutes later back at garage it was immediateley put back on the ramp and hat shield removed, was was the remains of my handbrake cable were wrapped around the prop.

I went to see the garage owner and said " I trust you'll put this right", he replied yes, so i left it there.

got a call from said garage owner on the friday saying car had been repaired and was being taken to lancaster in Birmingham for check over on saturday morning .

I spoke to Lancaster on the saturday and they told me they have no record of my vehicle being in or being booked in to there workshop Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Get a call from said reputable garage on the saturday morning about 11.30 saying car is all done and ready to collect, so went to collect, seemed ok as i was only returning the 3 mile journey home in a 40 limit.
then the mrs takes it up the a38 to do the horses at 3.30 and phones me to say its making a horrible noise and vibrating at 60 mph... so told her to return straight away, I took it up the a5 and quite rightly, it was not good, phoned said garage and expressed my concerns and they said they'll come and collect it straight away. which they did... they told me that they were going to send it to another garage in Lichfield for rectification.

so today, i phoned this other garage and they told me they had not heard anything about my car and it wasn't at there premises. so another trip down to said reputable garage and found my car there, parked up at the end of there car park, not even being looked at. they told me they were going to look at it this afternoon after all the mots were done to which i agreed with.

returned at 3 pm and although car had moved it still hadn't been into the workshop to be inspected and arrived to find owner hoovering out his own private car.. so by now i'm getting a little bit Censored off as you can imagine as this should have been priority. I told them i wanted to take the car away as they had already agreed to pay the bill if someone else looked at it, but they refused to accept they had said that and said "we'll repair it in our own timescale".

What happened within the next 20 or so mins was quite unbelievable . I was physically and verbally threatened by the garage owner, so i decided it was best to calm the situation and leave.

I get a call from him some 2 hours later and he says the handbrake cable to one wheel has snapped and that is what is causing the problem, and the body is being taken off as we speak..

Sorry to hear what has gone on with a place you thought you could trust sounds like your between a rock and a hard place. Should it have been towed? Hoping you get this resolved to your satisfaction. Thumbs Up
