No Heat From Heaters - Blowing Cold Air

Morning All,

Eventually got my D3 back on the road.

HOWEVER.... Big Cry

Can anyone give me any pointers on the above, heaters only blowing cold air, the webasto heater unit does not fire up.

I have checked what fuses and replays i can see that may be connected to the heting and all seems fine.

Thanks

would this stop the webasto heater from firing up?

Is all of the heat for the heaters generated from the webasto heater?

Hi,
the heat comes from the water/coolant system, as this warms up you get heat in the car,
The FBH helps the car to get the coolant up to temp quicker
the sooner your coolant gets warm the sooner your car does

and the FBH only fire up under certain conditions (outside temp, fuel, ect)

Thumbs Up

Thanks for that, I will bleed it up in the morning and see if I can get heat, I assume bleeding the system is straight forward enough?

It is around 10c where I am at the moment but it has been colder, I will bleed it up and see if I can get heat, hopefully it's just not been cold enough yet for the FBH.

So I have bled the car up and the blowers are still cold, there is another bleed valve on a hose that goes over the back of the engine, is this a separate one for bleeding the heating system would anyone know?

What does your temperature display read on the dash? I'm sure I had this problem once and it was the outside air temperature sensor behind the grill that was faulty. It was reading way over what the actual temp was so the auto heating was blowing out cold.

Temp gauge is reading correctly, doesn't look like that is it.

On the bulkhead are 2 pipes at the back

After a drive check these are both hot.

These are matrix pipes

My heater was cold and the heater matrix was the fault. One heater pipe was hot the other cold pointing towards no flow or circulation. Removed and tested it and found totally blocked.
Do the heater self test to check your blend motors are working as well.

Assuming I have the correct pipes that feed from the left and go directly into the bulkhead as in photos.

The top hose is cold the bottom is hot.
