Dealer wanted car for three days but managed to sort the problem in two. It was a faulty amp and this has been replaced. All sound is back. However I used to listen to the radio at about 14 to 15 on the volume whereas now I have to set it at about 20 to 21. It doesn't matter much but I just wondered how this could happen.

My sound has just gone off, everything looks like it is playing but not a whisper. We had earlier been listening to my sons Ipod connected to the AUX in row two. Everything seemed fine, went for a walk, came back and nowt. Checked fuse 42 30amp and it's ok, wiggled row two plug in socket, and still nowt. Had a look at the amp under drivers seat and no loose plugs or wires etc.
Any more ideas before I go the dealers?

Your problem sounds just the same as the one I had a few weeks ago. Once I had a new amp fitted everything started working again. Dealer originally thought it was a wiring fault but soon worked out it was the amp. They have to take the front seat out and it takes a while so I booked my car in for a few days. Dealer told me faulty amps are quite common with Disco 3s and RR Sports. I think you are going to have to visit your dealer but this can be fixed easily. Driving with no satnav sound, no radio and no CD is strange after a while!

Just got back from Dealers, and it's looking like I need a new Amp. It's got to go in for 2 days, where they have to do more tests before Landrover will ok a new Amp. But they said they will order an amp anyway, as they are quite sure thats what it is.
It's a shame i'm off now for 10 days and have no music, and it looks like a I will be driving a loaner for 2 days.
The lad in the service department is good, and doing all he can, so no complaints there. Well it's booked in lets see what happens today, will they fit a new amp or not. Will they fix it today or not.

Rang the dealer to ask how my Disco is doing, and they said they have just had authority to change the amplifier. They now have had the thing two full days, and I pointed them towards the amp on the first visit.
The problem was Landrover made them go through a diagnostic program and a TSB, before they would give authority to change the amp. The amp apparently the amp can be changed quite quickly, but there are some downloads to do with it also.
Is it true that everything is connected together with optical fibres, (the amp and the head unit)?

Well I have just picked up my Disco and I now have music.
They have changed the amplifier under the drivers seat.
I was talking to the lad who has done the job and he said he had changed, 4 or 5 amps. Thats funny because the lad at the desk said he only new of one that had been changed.
