Sounds really stupid but tonight after work I disconnected the egr valve electrical grey plugs and my noise has stopped so even though mine are blanked off ( I don’t know how or why Embarassed ) the dump valve sound has stopped

Sorry dude......but was yours making the same sound in the crappy YouTube video ???

I'm positive its summin mechanical with mine

Yeah and I’m thinking now I have two issues the noise from the video is the same as mine like air rushing I was getting esf up a slight hill so changed all induction hoses didn’t work , since unplugging the egrs it’s ok now so even tho they’re blanked could they be causing a fault if one or both a faulty ?

I’m sure it’s reduced the noise by unplugging the egrs but I’m going to check inlet manifolds for a leak and intercooler
As these are the Only things I haven’t changed
Metal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)
LR door puddle projectors (10 mins)
Tinted Bonnet wind deflector (10 mins)
All Intercooler pipes and Tbolts (2hrs)
3 injectors replaced so far (30mins)
Sunroof drain pipes both sides 2.5 hrs)
Rear discs, shoes, pads, callipers, flexi hoses, rigid brake line, n/s upper hub carrier bush and rear n/s upper arm (13hrs over 2 days)

Mine did that woosh noise for years. Never had a problem and didn’t affect the car in anyway. Had the TC replaced a few years back and the noise went away. Hence think it is related to the TC

Was your tc showing any signs like juddering or slipping

From memory the car made that noise ever since I had it. Was like it for many years and then yep the revs started to fluctuate, judder became apparent. Dr Tranny helped but I did the replacement within two weeks as I didn’t want to knacker the gear box.

hi all , the noise still there , no difference after more then 10.000km....the last owner change the gerarbox fluid and filter about 60.000km ago, and replace already the TC ( not new but rigenerate) ). Im thinking to change filter and oil and see if something will change ...

Is it a metallic screeching noise? Had it on mine for years until the torque converter was replaced. Now gone completely

I have precisely the same noise as per the YouTube clip on 150k ‘07 HSE 2.7 Auto. It’s on higher gear/low revs lift off and sometimes on constant throttle uphill midrange acceleration or flat ‘feathered throttle.

I’m reliably informed it’s the TC bearing, which the previous owner new about but forgot to mention - no other symptoms (hesitancy/jerkiness) so will run until it becomes intolerable.

Will try that EGR plug fix, they were both replaced 3mths ago so may be something to it.....

Will let y’all know

The air rushing noise I fixed mine , it was The air intake pipe joint that runs vertical with the radiator and the pipe that is held on with 2 fixings on top of the radiator. My bracket was broken from a previous owner and I didn’t realise it wasn’t sealing together, I fitted a new bracket to hold the vertical pipe in place and now the noise of the turbo air rush when letting off the accelerator has gone hope this helps
Below in red is the joint I found was the air rushing issue

After a cold day of rummaging, it’s sadly not related to EGR or the turbo air intake duct (as shown) it’s a rattle/bearing sound - no other TC/Transmission symptoms, Dr Tranny has had no effect.

So TC bearing remains the ‘favourite’ if that’s the correct term..... Sad

Audio isnt great, but there's a "woosh" type noise almost like a wastegate but also mechanical sounding.

Took the car to MJ Services near Wootton Bassett & Mark there couldnt find any fault, I'm not convinced as the noise is getting progressively worse & is quite bad after the cars up to temperature.

Again............any thoughts appreciated.

Cheers Thumbs Up

Are you getting the whooshing noise or something else as the YouTube vid is definitely what I has with a dump valve noise

Hi Dazz.

Was it definitely the join in the airduct pipe joint (as in your previous diagram) that was the problem? It looks as though the whole bottom section of the pipe has to be purchased (part number PHD500082), as I can't seem to find the joint section sold separately.
I have the same slight 'whooshing' sound when I take my foot off the accelerator pedal, like many other D3 owners it seems! Funny thing is, I only noticed it after mine when in to have the alternator changed. I've had the fan off since to change the tensioner and belt, and didn't really pay much attention to join in the pipes when I put it back together, though the bottom pipe did move downwards a bit when I squeezed them together! I'm now wondering if the mechanic forgot to bolt it back on if there is play.

Cheers mate!

Barry.
