Thanks for that, mate!
I'll have a look at the weekend. I'm hoping it will be something simple that I can do myself. Thinking about it now, I should have checked the bracket on the lower pipe when I changed the belt and tensioner. It didn't seem right that the whole pipe pushed downwards when I connected them together. Either the bracket is broken, or there are no bolts to hold it in place.
Thanks again.
Barry.

Slomofo wrote:After a cold day of rummaging, it’s sadly not related to EGR or the turbo air intake duct (as shown) it’s a rattle/bearing sound - no other TC/Transmission symptoms, Dr Tranny has had no effect.
So TC bearing remains the ‘favourite’ if that’s the correct term.....
Hi Slomofo.
Did you manage to find where the illusive 'rattle' was coming from? I have exactly the same sound as per the YouTube video.
I tried the air intake that fixed Dazz's problem, but there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with mine.
I don't know if it's just me worrying, but my old D3 seems to be sounding more like someone shaking a bag of rusty nails!
Cheers,
Barry.

Ive got exaclty the same metallic screetchy sound when lifting off the accelerator in my 05 plate auto. Its done it for the last 4.5 years. It comes and goes. Sometimes it does it on hard accelleration while under load (say ive got the caravan on and driving up hill). Its never let me down so ive never bothered fixing it. It had a new torque converter in 2015 and the gearbox oil was flushed by bodsy a year or two ago.
I drove an 07 plate hse a couple of weeks ago that had had a new engine in a few years ago. Made exactly the same noise. I think they all do that sir. lol.

Hello 👋
I have same symptoms, after installing refurbished TC, therefore I am suspicious about the job quality.
Is anyone living with this symptom? I am paranoic and I am afraid to not change TC again :-/
And second question, is it really bearing at TC?
TIA

I've just had a new Sachs TC fitted and I now have this "whooshing" noise when letting off the accelerator. What's confusing me is, where is this TC bearing? I do have blanked EGRs, so will try the unplug trick. Also, going to check the inlet pipe by the rad. It's just really annoying as this is the only annoying sound. I've had this 2008 D3 from new and only done 110K miles.
Any one know of a guide to replacing the inlet pipe to the turbo?
