Very NOISY park brake deployment.
The first time this occurred I was in a garage refuelling, the noise was so loud even the people in the shop heard it and looked out to see what it was.
Imagine a 9†angle grinder cutting a metal sheet, an impact wrench tightening nuts and someone trying to start a car that’s already running then amplify the noise 10 fold.
The dash display informed me that there was a problem with the park brake “No Sh*t Sherlockâ€.
I half expected to be stuck on the forecourt, however the car allowed me to drive away with an amber warning on the dash. It then happened when I stopped 10 minutes later on site. The car was parked for about an hour and on my return the fault had disappeared.
I was in Leeds at the time and had a fair way to travel home, as you can imagine I did not stop on the way.
My D3 is now having new park brake components fitted I will post details when I know what went wrong.
As the car was booked in for a service today, my dealer collected it this morning and has left me with a new 110 until they bring mine back
My dealer is J V Like, Hay On Wye.In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

The problem was traced to a bad connector (open to the elements) in the loom. The motor was not kicking in fully causing the noise. The fix was a wiring overlay. Apparently its quite a common fault that is usually picked up before things start going wrong. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.
