The offence here, of course, isn't the speed but perverting the course of justice - which naturally the Courts take a very dim view of.
See also telling a falsehood that someone else was driving... Gordon

I mean maybe the guy is bit of an /criminal/known baddy etc and the police have been trying to get him for ages but hes one slippery dude and this happened and they thought right you soab you are getting it now?
Same as when you hear the poor lady from tesco was sacked for eating a grape she had dropped on the floor, the real story was she was a disruptive pita who did just enough to not get the sack, spent half her life in the loo, the other half planning her next sicky, never did anything right, caused non stop trouble and the grape was the only legit excuse they could get her on so did.
We had one who threatened to deck another member of staff, but as that bit wasnt seen/heard they couldnt use it, they actually got the sack for using the c word, which was overheard.

^ a famous example being Al Capone’s conviction of tax evasion.
This does look like there’s a back story to the digital insult. Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana

We're speculating, of course, but it could be like the motorcyclist near me who rode past the same front-facing speed camera every morning at excess speed making obscene gestures.
One morning there was a real live Police Officer waiting for him... Needless to say, a lot of points and fines caught up with him, and he waved good-bye to his licence. Gordon
