Leak off pipes

Hi all,

Finally got a new “second hand” engine in my discovery but I’m having issues with the leak off pipe’s constantly dripping. I’ve tried a few old connectors and then finally a brand new (pattern part) set with new clips etc and it still leaks on injector number 1. Does anyone know a source for a genuine set please.

Thanks
Paul

I've just replaced mine when it snapped but also snapped the new on as it was a cold night while putting all back together.

I had a leak due to the metal spring retaining clip not retaining the fitting but luckily squeezing it up with the pliers stopped it popping out.

Have you got a new seal to try? I'd also try a slightly thicker o-ring in one of those sets. Try and blow out the fuel and get it dry and clean. Access is trick on those.

If a new seal doesn't work I'd try some sealant or hylomar type stuff just a wipe. Vaseline may also work.

The same happened to me, I had to swap over all the fuel system from my old engine and it leaked everywhere, new seals and spring clips and it was better but still leaked. I bought a brand new (pattern part set) and the connector for number one injector snapped off. I've swapped over a connector from the old set but it still leaks. I've never had one leak on me before and now this..! Laughing I've seen some have fitted brass connectors that seem to work, I've never needed anything but the original part before but i cant find anywhere that has a genuine set in stock.

Cheers
Paul

Hi folks, if you buy an ebay leak off pipe just be aware that when i fitted mine the bank on the nearside was perfect and installed easily. On the offside bank the pipes connecting the fittings was 10-12mm to short for them to reach. I verified this by buying one from rimmer brothers(£143 instead of 48 but basically the same) and comparing.

I then decided to extend the pipe sections with copper 3/16 brake pipe which worked fine if pushed in with care. No leaks after 2k mikes. I returned the LR part as i only live over the road. Although the ebay one looks the same as the genuine just beware that may be an issue. Fairly hard plastic so I wouldn’t do it on a cold day as possibly the reason which added risk of snapping.

As a fitting tip you can fit the spring clip first and push in the fittings to make it easier afterwards. The whole task was a lot easier than i expected but good long nose pliers and a small magnet are essential.

Be good if you could link the listing or seller that provided a short pipe

The new one I purchased was long enough I just think the quality of the fitting sis a bit suspect. I've orders some new connectors, clips, and O rings and will spend some time getting it fitted. I'll report back when done.

You used to be able to purchase the braided hose off eBay.
Heating up the pipes with a hot air gun or hair dryer, you could just repair the broken section, using good bits.
