TomTom dont really power off they go into suspend and may still have Bluetooth active. Some laptops do the same although with Laptops you can actually power them right down

I'm in the computer industry and have one customer that got so pee'd off having laptops stolen that he got me to find him one that was fried and beyond repair. He told me later that he had gutted it, put a bladder in it which was filled with indelible dye and then set it up so that the bladder would be pierced when the lid was opened.

He left that one in full view in a laptop bag on the rear seat and hid the real one under the passenger seat. Sure enough, the dummy one got stolen while the car was parked outside his office and he was delighted when he told me that a guy two floors below ended up with dye all over him! The cops are still dealing with the case.

He got another dummy off me and so far has been lucky. The only drawback was it cost him a window for the car when the dummy got stolen...still that's way cheaper than a laptop.
