One more thing about LR... I wish they would send some test mules to the outback in summer.

the D3 was extensively tested in the Northern Territory as well as places like the middle east etc.
I have happily motored all day in 47 degree heat with no issues to both the interior temp or the motor temp.
however they cannot test for mice.

CW,
On a flat run in high range, agreed... beautiful motor. Haven't done 47C, but well into mid forties.

I just doubt the tried as hard as they should! Very Happy

Cheers,
Rob

For instance... did they toe a 3.5t van in mid-forties up a hill while testing in Australia/Middle East? Or go up some steep rock climbs in similar temps? Rolling Eyes

Probably did.
Which is why the D3 is only rated at one tonne towing limit off-road. Rolling Eyes

Towing 3.5 tonne in those conditions will be at the limit of any passenger vehicle. D3 does well but if are going tow like than get the aftermarket cooler. And change transmission oil and filter often.

Your's is the second one i know of that has had trouble in Bendethra
and it was quite cool the other time.
It amazes me that instead of fixing the D3 they released the D4

Norto - yes, the D4 has a different gearbox to the D3. Maybe they know something we don't!? Rolling Eyes

I think they changed the torque converter on the MY08 or 09.
