Ok, I think it's one of two things and hopefully nothing more serious! (I don't want to have a probe up the exhaust pipe!)

either 10's right and it's the EPB cable resonating 8) ; or

it's my seat getting one back on me and expelling air out of the cushion when it compresses as I move! Shocked Shocked

I am closer to the riddle of the fart! Very Happy

It has something to do with the aircon.

When I activate Recirc it makes a faint noise, but when I deactivate the Recirc it makes a resounding fart from somewhere in the cetnre console! Embarassed Very Happy Very Happy

It will be one of the flaps in the system creaking, mine has done this to, usually when I switch the ignition on.

My D3 is suffering from "flap fart" too. Last time it went into the dealer, we asked them to fix it, and the response was that the warranty doesn't cover rattles and creaks.
I have pulled the dash apart as far as I can, but can't get to the flap.

Does anyone have a fix?

I can make my flap part 'fart' on demand!

I found that if I press the recirculate button, wait for the sound to change, then press it again to switch off the recirc, it briefly makes a muffled farting noise 8)

IF it is the sealing ring on the recirculation flap, it's an absolute pig to get to, no wonder the dealer said it wasn't warranty (which is wrong BTW)

Am I right in thinking that since the enhancement, the recirc is selected on startup to eliminate FBH fumes from the cabin?, this could explain the noise on switch on.

Yep, you're correct Gareth, switch indicator doesn't change state though...

RHD shown, LHD is mirror image, the flap in question is above the lower glovebox

Look, if it makes a noise at least it means the seal is touching the sides of the hole, which is more than Land Rovers of old, so it must be working! That will do in my book Wink

might be worth taking out the pollen filter and giving an upwards squirt of WD40?
