Hi
Just some advice for those who have similar symptoms - I had the error codes for EGR valve failing and my mpg dropped to around 22 from a solid 30 mpg on my usual commute
After changing both valves mpg only climbed back up to around 27mpg, my assumption is that after changing the valves it released a load of crud up into the rest of the system, a search in here recommended the map sensor as a source of poor consumption and when removed it was caked in gunk!
Cleaned it and back up to 30mpg! Well worth checking after an EGR replacement 👍
