Oil on the intercooler pipes

I ve just noticed there is oil around the o/s intercooler pipe.Could this be a sign that the turbo is on its way out.
Has anyone else had this Question
Cheers Chris

How much oil and where exactly is it?

Close to the ends of the tube or somewhere in the middle?

if the oil is on the outside of the pipe then you have to think how has it got on the out side ???
highly unlikely that it's been pushed out but the turbo to get on the outside.
If it's on the inside then it depends how much ? there is usually a tiny bit in there on most turbo diesels that have egr's fitted

My egr s ar blanked off. I think ill pull it a part and have a look see how much is in there. There is nothing over the top that could leak

Hi Chris?

I had something similar last year when TFC services my D3.

Turned out to be the rubber coupling at the end of the intercooler pipe had been secured to tightly after a new intercooler replacement at the stealership.

It slowly perished around the edge and seeped oil. Only TFC hawk like vision spotted it.

Fairly easy to replace, if you have small hands, but you cant buy it separately and have to buy the pipe too.

Around £80 if I recall.

Hope that helps.

Dave

Mine was the oposite, not tight enough and leaked out. Just cleaned and replaced it and tightened properly.

I had the same as CaverD3, but only tightened it around the bottom part and no more leaks, the stealers at first diagnosed it as a gearbox leak and wanted around 1,200 Euros, After asking how it got to the front I/C pipe, they said it was running down the sump .......... bla bla bla bla

After just tightning the pipe, no more leaks!
