That puddle looks pretty central to me. Could be the crank seal popped out of the oil pump.
Maybe it’s had a belt and pump change very recently?

Mikeyb wrote:yes but did you buy it as a trade to trade sale or as a private individual? I'm guessing that you bought as trade as I don't believe that a private buyer can bid online at a BCA auction? In that case the story probably ends.
If however you were buying it as a private individual, becuase you were buying from a trade seller, then you should have a case as a trader cannot legally sell something mis-described or not fit for purpose - ie. sold as seen holds no legal water.
So in summary,
trader sells to trader = no come back
private vendor sells to private vendor = limited or no comeback
trader sells to private buyer = statutory rights apply under The Sale of Goods and Services Act, and possibly the Distance Selling Regs.
I don't suppose you paid by credit card? If so the CC company maybe able to apply some leverage.
I'm not a lawyer, find one quickly or even talk to trading standards for qualified advice
i believe it will be trader to trader Mikey.
doesnt negate the fact that they knew there was an oil leak which was not in the description. gonna get on the phone to them tomorrrow and have it out and see where i get. with a bit of luck it will be something simple with no serious damage.
mind you, if i didnt have any bad luck i would have no luck atall

theres no undertray and running down the block N/S, not sure about pump or belts TBH as there is no indication with the paperwork.
whats an oil pump like to fit if that is the case?

Sorry for asking if you bought trade after you typed the answer, that the trouble with dipping in and out of thread!
Good luck with finding a resolution and don''t give up until beaten!
I did the same as you and bought blind from BCA recently, but was really pleased with the nice 2015 BMW 5 series touring then delivered to me a day or two later. I probably paid around 10 x what you did for your Disco as the beemer was one owner and sub 30k miles, but the car had their "silver assurance" and was a steal at that price. I'm not sure that I would buy from WBAC or any un-researched random seller blind as the risks of picking up someone elses problem is high as you have possibly found out.
Don't lose sight of the fact that you hopefully paid less than the going rate for the whole car and that if all else fails, you could recover your money by breaking it. Not such a Disco Newbie now!

I hope you get this sorted, but for me it raises alarm bells by the fact the sump gaurd and the engine cover are both missing. this suggests there was a know issue and that it was ongoing by the fact people couldnt be bothered to put covers back on.

I would think the other way. Clean it up put the guards back on, Slow the appearance of oil on the deck.
Or could be reverse.. .. let the oil out so it don’t look so bad.
Some not nice folks around up the car trade.
Any roads hope you get to the bottom of it without spending to much

Someone removed the cover to look at the source of the oil.
Reported it would be too expensive to fix and sold as is.
The OP probably don't have the covers!
