Oil level sensor unit needs replacing
Advisory on latest service = Oil level sensor unit....
Anybody had this unit diagnosed as weeping a mist of oil? Multiplug has oil in it apparently too.

We have several levels of oil leaks,
sweating = who cares
weeping = monitor
leaking = is it actually dripping on the floor ? if not monitor
gusher = better fix this one!

Just had the oil level sensor and sump wiring replaced on mine as it was showing a random "oil level system monitor failure" which would clear after a 15 minute ignition off. Its a known issue of oil getting into the wiring within the sump and moving along inside the wiring and coming out of the plug where it comes through the sump. Its about an 8 hour job as front diff and sump need to be removed to get at the sensor and wiring, luckily mine was under warranty, as a quick glane at the warranty bill looked in excess of £1000 at main dealer.

If oil gets in the wiring itself , ie copper strands , it can migrate through all the connectors so get it changed sooner than later . Although the wires insulation is semi sealed into connectors with grommets etc , that is not the case with the conductors inside.

Just had the same fault come up on my XXV. Booked in in a couple of weeks. I'd have thought it should have logged a fault code, but there aren't any?D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT
