How much roughly would it cost to replace the oil pump and casing?

Sure, but what is the identification for a "Good" pump versus an unreliable pump Smile

you have to get the cam belt cover off, that's behind the aux belt, couple of hours work if you have not done it before.

Thanks guys. Just looking. I think I need a special thin spanner to remove the fan... is there a cheap one somewhere or do I need a full price tool?

You also need a tool to stop the fan rotating while undoing the left hand thread, Advancedfactors sell them Thumbs Up

And make sure that you torque the pump bolts to the correct setting. I believe 27mn., but do check as there have been examples of overtightening resulting in casting failure, usually after cam belt replacement. You must fit a new oil crankshaft seal DRY and leave for apprx. 4 hours before restarting engine. Also fit a new crankshaft pully bolt.
Enjoy! Thumbs Up

Later pumps have reinforced casting.

and they also uprated to thicker "star" to increase oil pressure. Most recent pump number is LR123716.
