A neighbour has asked if I can change the front brake pads plus oil and filter on his Skoda one evening next week before he tows his caravan around France for 3 weeks.
I've had a look and discovered I'm going to have to suck the oil out as it doesn't have a drain plug.
When I mentioned to my Neighbour that I don't have a pump yet, but as I'm in the process of swapping my D3 for a late D4 I was going to buy one anyway, he offered to contribute to the cost as I'm helping him out.
So, I want to buy a manual or electric pump that will fit the suction pipe on the D4, and if I have to bodge it for the Skoda so be it.
Can I get some recommendations please.
Thanks

Mityvac are excellent, Ive had mine for over a decade now and its starting to get tired, but my god its shifted some lube in its time.
Top tip is to make sure the engine is warm otherwise it will take 1 to 2 hrs to suck out the cold oil.

I use the Lidl/Aldi £15 12V oil suction pumps.*
Takes around 10-15 minutes to fully drain.
Looks like you can get effectively the same things from eBay for £12.
As mentioned, so long as oil is warm they seem to work fine.
Well, occasionally; I still like to drop the oil out of the sump as a preference. Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Not to warm though, I attempted this once with a engine that was a little to warm & the pumps oil container imploded

All you need for the D4, when you get your pump is a short length of fuel pipe, just remove the twist off cap and shove the fuel pipe on to the top of the extraction tube and then one of the supplied plastic pipes will fit snugly in to the small length of fuel pipe.
It does take a while to extract the oil from a D4, so warm the engine before extraction.

Thanks all.
Flack, good to know how easy the connection to the D4 is.
Will be placing an order today for a Sealey or Draper hand operated pump.

Any just so you know, I did mine on the weekend and then got under and undid the sump drain. I got about 10ml out afterwards. Essentially nothing. It's great.

I got a pump and decided it was rubbish - much quicker to undo the bolts underneath (about 10) and then drain the oil that way!

Didn't think you could on a D4 as it has no drain plug.

They can be slow if the oil is cold, engine warm and its much better, plus you can get on with the other bits on the car whilst it is draining, obviously need to keep pumping the vac up.

I had the engine warm, I just concluded it was much quicker to undo ten bolts and drop the oil than use the pump. Plus of course its always good to be able to do a little inspection!
