gstuart - yes - that's the sensor and there have been some really nice jobs done to add the gauge. One on the tinterweb shows an aluminium manifold mounted to that bracket in front (or in place of perhaps??).

I'll see if I can find it again Smile Smile

Many thks for the pic / link and excellent write up Thumbs Up

See u can get small lcd displays instead of the larger oil pressure gauges

Thks again Bow down

I would use the pressure sensor from the TDV8 as it is much shorter, has the same fitting and a lower threshold (0.7 bar).

Found this and wished to share the link in case it may be of use to anyone

Tempted myself to fit one , plus wonder if there’s enough room to fit it without the hose using a short thread tube in its place or tee

Ie, tee M14 x 1.5 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-OIL-P...1005556096

Certainly got me interested, most add on gauges come with a sender, it will only need the adapter “T”, some digital gauges even have a adjustable low pressure audible alarm and facility to choose the display colour Very Happy
Finding a place for it to fit may be a problem as the gauges are 50mm diameter.

Hi M3DPO

Wonder if something like this would be any good

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-Digital-Dis...2799743337

Specification:
Type: Oil Pressure Gauge
Voltage: DC 12V
PSI: 0—116PSI
Color: Black
LED Color: Blue
Material: Plastic + Metal
Size: 4.8x3.2x1.2cm
Wire Length: 180cm

Think that measures up to around 8 bar

However looking at it the wire is only 1.8m long , would assume the wires could be extended to reach inside the cabin

Plus if I’m reading it right, oil pressure should be a min of 0.50 bar (7.25 psi) at idle and 1.0 bar (14.5 psi) @ and above 2,500 revs

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-OIL-P...1005556096

I got a cheap display that I’ve just placed temporarily down by the other gauge panel , maybe that might be a place for the oil pressure display ??

That display thing looks to have the wrong sized thread on sensor.

They vary between car manufacture!

The tdv6 is annoying in that it doesn’t have much clearance room around the hole.

That why that adaptor setup a few post up exists. To move it to where there is room for sensors have room fit.

Rather nice I thought Smile Smile

Pipe coming out head, then forward to a block where there is room for a sensor or 2

That appears to be the minimum oil pressure not normal running pressure. Evil or Very Mad

Edit:

I had to read this 3 times to believe normal oil pressure is so low, no wonder it is recommended to change the oil pump with the timing belts. If it was any other make of engine I would consider it to be nearing the end of its working life Shocked

Hi Pete

Cheers, wasnt 100% ref that sensor

The other one I posted with the hose is supposed to be the right size M14x1.5 and like u say makes sense to move it away where there’s more room

Ah, I see what u mean, alas haven’t seen what the normal oil pressure should be at varying revs

Thks for pointing that out Thumbs Up

Just found this

Normal Engine oil pressure:

At idle 0.7 bar (70 kPa) (10 lb/in2)
At 3500 rev/min 1.9 bar (190kPa) (27.5 lb/ft2)

So as u say these are the bare Min the oil pressure should be

min of 0.50 bar (7.25 psi) at idle
1.0 bar (14.5 psi) @ and above 2,500 revs

Yes it’s bare minimum pressure prob on a hot engine

If you see less it means the engine requires work.

Cheers Pete

Wonder have u got one of the modified oil pumps plse , plus at least 100% there accurate because u tested it urself with a gauge

Hope u didn’t mind I copied the figures over here for reference

Jag manual says minimum 7psi at idle
above 2500RPM minimum 14.5psi
maximum 58psi

I'm getting 20psi (1.4bar) on idle
and 50psi (3.4bar) when revved.

Many thks as always Thumbs Up
