Just before my original warranty expired, I had my GS serviced to ensure that everything was ok. I'd mentioned the rubber cover coming off of one of my keys when I booked the car in - and was happy to be told that it would be replaced under warranty.
Fabulous thought I!
Then the fun started - the car wouldn't talk to the computer to code the new keys.
Needing the car, I arranged to bring it back another day when the dealership's expert would be in (going on holiday meant this was a little while later!).
So today they've had the car and......it talks to the computer but the keys can't be programmed. Seems that some key module isn't working properly and needs replacing.
Have I opened a can of worms?

Friend recently had this happen with his 04 D3. They could not code the new key to the box in the car. Went back to LR for the original codes to re-write the whole system. Unfortunatley LR could not find the original codes and ended up paying for a new system to be fitted and coded and the friend only paid for the one key, great result. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Finally got my beast back this evening. One new remote-key module fitted, two new keys all courtesy of JLR
And whilst they had it, they checked the sticking rear door and replaced the lock mechanism, paid for by my new extended warranty.
Glad I didn't have to find the £700 total bill for this lot!!!

Did they say how much was the key module? I need one for my spare key.
