Orange brake pad light stays on. Some questions... |
|
Hi
My brake light stays on after brake pad renewal.
What could be wrong?
How to check if it is front or rear?
Is it possible the handbrake pad lights the warning light?
I don't see a fault code regarding this issue (fautlmate extreme).
Don't the brakepads generate fault codes?
Regards

Was the sensor changed with the pads? As far as I know you have to physically sight the senseor, it is only fitted to one rear and one front wheel, on oppositte sides. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

If it is the sensor does it generate a fault code (so I can see it with my Faultmate)?

One of two things, the sensors were not replaced and are damaged from
removing them or a connector plug is not making good contact.
By removing one side plug, take a paper clip bent in a " U " shape
you can bridge the pins of the main loom to complete the circuit
and have a second person check if the light goes out, this should
tell you which side is faulty.
You can test each sensor on the connector pins ( unpluged ) with a
mulimeter to see if there is a brake in the wire, there must be a closed
electrical circuit for the light to go out. D3 bullbar-spots-roof rack with spots-ladder-long range tank-swing out spare wheel carrier- upgraded tow bar-dash console-internal water tank-duel awnings-drawer system & T T.
