Dealer recommended just waitig for it to go off!! but LR now advise that it automatically stops with the ignition. I have tried this but there is still a pump running - can anyone else check as to whether it is just a water circulatory pump or the fbh itself?

Hi Ecosse
Yes I think it is the fuel burner itself.
I had asked the same questions about it on my TD4 Freelander.
The Freelander has the same heater but the noise when the heater is running ( not on the after run that purges the heater) is horrendous it howells / screams because it does not have the silencer fitted (back box looking thing to the rhs of the fbh) also the temps that LR say it comes on are all wrong, it has a mind of it's own.
By the way you can fit the silencer on to the Freelander but you have to remove most of the front of the car and the dealers told me at the time that the silencer didn't even exist (does from Webasto).
It's crazy that they don't fit them on the Freelander as standard as it would probably cost pence and save a lot of annoyed owners.

When I used to use the night heater in my truck , after shut down some sort of motor was still running for a while while things cooled down then it automatically stopped.

But think of all we have learned about the FBH over the last 11 years. I could probably assemble one blindfolded!
