p0735

Hi ,

Wonder if anyone can help.

Over the last few months I have been having a few dodgy gear changes around 5th and 6th. Then a couple of weeks ago on a long journey going up a long hill , it changed from 5th to 6th , when you normally would have expected it go drop down to 4th. I then gave it more throttle and it wouldn't kick down at all , pushed the shifter over to manual and tried to change down , didn't do anything. It would only change down when i slowed down and took my foot completely off the gas for a few seconds and then back on again.

On a couple of occasions when going up a steepish hill in manual in 4th, I push the shifter to change up to 5th ,and it actually drops into 3rd.

So i double flushed the gearbox and stuck in some dr tranny.

Then last night on the dual carriage way going up a hill at about 70 it started jumping between 4th , 5th and 6th , then the bong , and the F with the limited gears message. So i pulled over , turned off then restarted , drove home at 40mph.

When I read the codes there is p0735.

I am thinking its something to do with the mechatronic unit. Any one got any thoughts.

Thanks

Tim

tell me about it.

I think the gearbox decides 5th gear is no good, (either a gearbox valve or clutch fault) and stops you from selecting it.

Try driving it manually and missing out 5th. (or only be in it for 2 seconds)

thanks guys , recommend anyone in Cornwall to take it to ? Anyone apart from a main dealer that is.

Steve Toyers is where I would normally go but they are just going to box it up and send it somewhere else.

Cheers

Had a couple of quotes back today

https://reconditioned-gearbox.co.uk/ £1800 + VAT supplied + fluid + delivery

http://www.automatic-gearbox.co.uk/ £1800 + VAT installed

Anyone had any experience of either one ?

Cheers

As Pete has said I think Bristol transmissions are favourite. If you do a search on here a few people have used them and were happy with the results Thumbs Up
 The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

BT are about £400 more, but i dont want to be doing it again in a hurry so will take the advice

Is there anything else worth doing whilst the gearbox is out like the rear timing belt oil pump ??

Maybe check the condition of the cross over pipe?

Think its a gearbox out job to replace the pipe if it does go.
