P132B Code today on Motorway

Was giving the D3 some boot on the motorway today and had an engine fault flash up. At the same time could feel the power was down. Plugged in the IID and got this..

P132B - turbo/supercharger boost control A performance
22 - General signal failure, signal amplitude > maximum

After clearing the fault I then tried to replicate it on the way home and its not happened again. Suspect it was because I was giving it some welly that it threw the code. As I plan to tow with this Disco I could do with not worrying about this.

So I am guessing at the good end of the spectrum its a sticky actuator arm. So will check this and lubricate. what else could cause this other than a turbo on its way out.

Think it’s the right of passage to get that code Rolling with laughter

Joking aside, when that came up on mine indeed it was a sticky actuator arm, made up tool that everyone else has done along with a can of silicone spray , ensuring it traveled full motion

On inspection I also found a jubilee clip was broken on the turbo horizontal pipe , there were traces of oil , new clip and all was resolved , I also checked all the other intercooler hoses and gave the Map sensor a clean

Fingers crossed it’s a simple fix

Thanks gstuart. So I checked the movement on the actuator and all seems OK there. Gave it some spray oil just for good measure.

The Map was very gunky though so gave it a clean with some brake cleaner and will see how I get on...

The EGRs were replaced a few months ago (before I bought the vehicle) however I looking through the hole that the MAP fits in I dont think they bothered cleaning out the manifold as its really gunky in there. So will whip that off at the weekend when I attempt my glow plug replacement Rolling with laughter

That MAP sensor is pretty gunked and is likely to be the cause, just don't poke anything into it when cleaning. It's also worth checking the movement of the turbo actuator and lubricate it well while you're at it.

You shouldn't have any reoccurrence.

Hi Profsr, yep all done, took it for a spin and no fault code as yet. It also felt a bit more spritely so assuming this was the issue.

Yes, you should notice a considerable increase in pull as the actuator will now get accurate info from the PCM.

If you don't have blanked EGR's clean the MAP sensor at least every 6 months. Thumbs Up

Ur so welcome and indeed as Prof G mentions that is likely the cause of the issues

When I blanked my egrs I know what u mean, the throttle body was full of junk, so removed and cleaned it all out , using some silicone grease on the large O rings helped the throttle body go back in

See the new Map sensor have a larger hole which I assume is to reduce them blocking

Hope all is now well and get on ok cleaning it out, is just a dirty job and if u don’t mind me adding when u reinstall the throttle body ensure it’s seated home properly before installing the large clip

Have done a few searches on here but I guess removing the inlet manifolds to clean out the gunk in these is not a job I can see covered, presumably cause it’s not an easy job to remove them, has anyone attempted this ?

Hi

Likewise , also didn’t remove the inlets as it looked a big job, all I done was , remove / clean throttle body , blanked the egrs , left the egr pipes in situ , removed throttle body and cleaned map

See the new map sensors have a larger hole to which I assume is also to help them blocking up

Plus when I removed the throttle body looked in the inlet and didn’t look to bad

May i ask is Stroud in kent or somewhere else plse , thks , as wondered if ur not to far from me ur more than welcome if u come this way and need a hand I’ll be more than happy to help

Just found this, know it’s for a 3 x litre but imagine it’s just as much work to remove them

https://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic118867-15.html

Just thought I’ve got an endoscope camera this time so will use it when I clean my Map sensor / throttle body again, will be interesting to see how dirty it is after blanking the egrs

Also I wonder if it’s worth running some cleaner through the system, can’t find the link at the moment as I know some members used a cleaner

Hi gstuart, thank you for the kind offer and if I was in Kent and not Gloucestershire I would certainly take you up on it Smile

Took the throttle body off today...

The mainfold was also pretty gunked up so I carefully scraped out as much as I could without knocking any bits down the cylinder ports.

Since the EGRs were recently done I am guessing that the failed ones may have contributed to the build up. Or perhaps this is just what you see after 80k miles.

Either way it feels like the engine is sweeter and a bit more responsive and no fault codes yet.

How long did it take you to remove the manifolds ?
