If he were actually involved, then perhaps it would be, but alas the name is sold and the quality not upto to thule, but OK to hold a lightweight handbag or mars bar....... Smile

I'm sure we'll now get plenty of people saying the have PH stuff & it's worked for years..... Confused

Nope, Paddy Hopkirk stuff really is utter Dog pooh. Nasty soft metal, sharp edges, poor coatings and generally manky. Perfectly suitable for a MkIV Escort in several shades of faded blue with some dole-scrounging Censored at the wheel, hence the lack of light/plate fitments as they never bother with them.

Light/plate fitments, what are they? Laughing

Did you like my Escort then?

Laughing Laughing

Seems like it will have to be the Thule then. Seen a 2 bike carrier one at around £70, then there will be the electrics and the plate plus the cost of the tow bar which comes to a total of over £300 spent in order to carry my bike worth about £30. Sad

Anyone know a Thule dealer in SW London as i would like to see one up close before I buy?

Cheers.

Your nearest Halfords should have them in stock, provided it's one of the bigger ones that had a makeover with an orange paintbrush.

Be warned..... they have Ripspeed sections selling shiny tat for Corsa and Escorts and I sometimes find myself wandering around trying very hard not to laugh, cry or burst at some of the stuff on sale!

Problem solved, drove out to a car rack/box/carrier place out in Windsor and picked up the Thule Ride on for 2 bikes £75, then drove over to Guy Salmon LR in Thames Ditton and got fleeced for the electrics to the tune of £88, I know they are on eBay for £75 but once you include postage and the wait.....

Garage offered to fit the electrics for £130 odd!!! so I politely declined and had a good look at the instructions.

Blimey! they are done in an Ikea style, lots of pics and no words. Funny at first it was all Greek to me than after the fifth look it all made sense. Just need a nice dry couple of hours.

Well I'd better get back into cycling after all that. Laughing
