Part number change

Some thieving scallywag removed the chrome strip from the left hand side step of the D3. I thought I had managed to purchase VUB502990 a "genuine" step from lrseries.com. They are telling me know that LR have changed the part no. to VPLAP0037. This comes back to a "Brit Part" number that I assume is a patent copy. Any ideas please? TIA

Up until seeing this post, I thought mine had just come off in the snow but now I'm not so sure. My near side trim is missing and it's happened over the last week, not sure when and I was putting it down to the snow!
Looking at the drivers side though, it's quite a solid fit so I'm doubting that it would just fall off.

what did you do to replace it

if it the aluminium strip you are talking about, these fall of quite often, as the rivets holding them on corrode at the back.

Buying a Pair..........................unforunately the trim is only part of the step and the steps are sold as Pairs. Its a known problem with them and has been correctly diagnosed above, Rivets give up.
