PDC sensors activation?
I'm trying to diagnose a parking sensor failure, and have read in many threads that you can listen to them?
I can't get the PDC system to work without the engine running, and therefore can't hear the sensors above the engine!
Is there a function in the IId?

There is a function on the IID, in live readings. One of my sensors showed 0 range when it should have been 2.5, even though when I had previously put the car in reverse with the ign on (engine not running) all sensors could be heard 'clicking' with my ear up close to them. So listening to them is not necessarily a good way of diagnosing I replaced that sensor, and had previously replaced the wiring loom (12yrs old) whilst I had the rear bumper off, and all is working again now. I must say, I found the process iffy to say the least, after changing the loom, and connecting it up before actually refitting the bumper, all was working normally it was later, after I had refitted the bumper, that the continuous beep fault returned again. Luckily it was the outer r/h sensor at fault, and I could just about get to it to change it, with the bumper cover on.D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

Thanks DN.
I tried a new sensor in each position, with no luck. Then I had a closer look at the loom, and guess what!
To be fair, the IId did report 'Outer Right' and it was the blue wire to the outer right sensor that was broken.Richard

Ah, well hopefully an easy fix I recommend that you check extensively that it all works BEFORE refitting the bumper. Thanks. I'm not sure I've tried it with the park brake off. Will try again tomorrow.
I spent all day doing this, wheel arches off, bumper off, arch liners out (replaced the arch trim while I was in there), fixed the broken wire.
Tested the sensors worked before fully installing the bumper, all good.
Finished rebuilding the car, and guess what, the PDC doesn't work now!
Constant tone like the car is close to something. Not the same high tone when the wire was broken. Still from the rear. IId doesn't detect any faults.
Very frustrating!Richard
