yes that yellow thing is a flashbooster SLAVE it will read the origanal file from the ecu.
you get that file tuned and then write the file back to the ecu.
sometimes adds a marker to the flsh counter depending on which ecu type you are working on
So yes it does a simlar thing to the superchips tools with the exeption that this yellow flashbooster has the capeability to reflash loads and loads of different cars.
Here is a list of the supported cars
http://flashbooster.net/Car-List-V2.16.xls
NOTE the file it reads it is a packed format and you will not be able to open it , only we tuners can open the file as we have flashbooster MASTER that lets us open tune and repack your file for you

The slave version is not held by the customer but by the dealer, the map supplier holding the mater unit. The only product that does that (store the original maps onboard and is supplied to the customer) is the one we use, but that's only available for some Bosch ME7 and EDC15 applications.
The flashboster was recently renamed byteshooter because the name flashbooster was not registered apparently, and there were reports of the system being cloned and sold in the east somewhere under the flashbooster name.

Thats why it's a tool for a tuner, as you need to be able to modify the maps, it doesn't do it for you, so it's only one expense within many other components needed to complete the task.

Can I clear up some confusion here.
Flashbooster or byteshooter cannot and does not upgrade TDV6 Land Rover engines.
We have manufactured a totally separate tool for these vehicles Money talks.Sex sells.Mud sticks.Time flys. happens.People talk.Impressions last!
