Just been able to face logging on after yesterdays calamity.
At the roundabout, junction 31 M1, turning right towards Sheffield having travelled southbound, was in the right hand lane on the sliproad, indicating right, then on the inner lane of the roundabout and about to exit on the right hand lane towards Sheffield (indicating left now) when some in a silver (common colour) Vauxhall zafira travelling in the outer lane on the roundabout decided that he also wanted to exit on the right hand lane! Result? a silver scrape all down my nearside rear passenger door, scuffed alloy and scuffed plastic wheelarch.
It's only done 1500 miles!
He was with his wife so I didn't kill him.
Felt like crying. Back in the game!

Did you ever see that old episode of the Professionals, where the 2 chaps did a head on skid stop to see how short the distance between the 2 Capri's was ..
This evening, I tested out the ABS in anger, and funny enough it was against a silver Vauxhall..
One way street on a blind bend in the city centre ( if anyone knows Worcester, bottom of the Butts) , and I was the one going the correct way. D3 stopped on a sixpence, but the Vauxhall didn't ...
About a foot I think...
Daughter ( 14 ) very calm , with one eyebrow raised about 2mm, just said "cool"
Whereas I was thinking very quickly about all the bits that would need changing if he couldn’t stop................Somewhere in-between my old D3 and what's to come next .........

I know that gutted feeling all too well, you have my sympathies Disco Dad,
on the upside though, now you have a head start, you could always leave the silver scrape on and cover over that nasty black with a full silver respray.
Sorry but you asked for that with the "common colour" remark!

What! You mean he couldn't see 2.7t of black menace with '$hit they're bright!' indicators.......!
mind you, about 10 years back i had a VW Passat (yes I know, but it was a while ago!) At the Magic roundabout in Hemel Hempstead and a bus decided to add Arriva to the side of me. Guess he couldn't see the bright orange flashing things either!
Feel gutted for you, after all the build up to you getting it and some $hit can't be bothered to watch where he's going & puts a dint in the grin (hopfully not removing the PG alltogether?)Bodsys Brake Bible
Thanks for all the positives guys. Feel a bit better now.
Not only did he not see my indicators, he didn't see my lovely new xenons that I had switched on at the time! Thanks Cliff H !
And yes, the vauxhall's wing was very badly dented. Alloy wheel did it I recon.
Called my insurance who agreed that I could take it to a Landrover dealership for the repairs to be carried out rather than to one of their 'approved' body shops. I insisted on this because of the waranty and also because the wheel took some of the force which I wanted to be checked out.
Anyone had any repairs/respray work done in my area that they could recommend?

Well there is your answer then you blinded him with them new eyes ... lol
Hope you get it sorted and I agree with you on the dealership doing the repair and not the insurance back-hand brigade...

Sorry to hear of your hassle DD.
I had a few blisters apear on my door, Ripon Landrover bodyshop did this for me under warranty. Whilst it was there, they waxoiled the chassis, they also took out a keyed scratch on another door [that some low life scum decided to add to my D3]. they did all this at no cost to me whatsoever and did a good job.
not knowing where you are in Yorkshire..LLR may not be local enough for you, but good luck anyway.I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.
