Hi Andy,
There's plenty of threads open on this matter....if she didn't turn on the ignition, then a good drain is usually all that's needed....unfortunately if she's driven it until it died, then things are a lot more serious....
New tank, new fuel pipes, pumps (high & low pressure), maybe even fuel rail and injectors are needed amongst other stuff...
I think people have gotten away with less if they only drove a few miles, but driving it until it conk's out causes a lot of (potential) damage...
I say 'potential', because LR will only honour the existing warranty on the vehicle if their full procedures are followed, replacing all the bits mentioned above ($$$$), if she decides to get it done 'on the quiet', then she may get away with less.
Tell her to speak to her insurance company before LR - they may have something included in the policy to cover this kind of thing. If the pumps are poorly marked (mixed up colours etc), then she may even be able to claim against the petrol station 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

There are several threads regarding misfules on this site.
LR insist on replacing the entire fuel system from tank to injectors in rder to keep your warranty intact. LR obviously now know about the problem so it will be in their computer system. That's the bad news. The good news is that most insurance companies will cover the repair. Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

I tried to get something out of Shell when mine was mis-fuelled. I didn't ask them to pay - just some gesture.
My claim was that the largest writing on the pump was the word "Vpower" and that my missus hadn't realised that there was Vpower Unleaded (to be fair she's only put fuel in the D3 twice). Shell just sent me a load of crap about how their forecourts are inspected regularly to ensure compliance with their colour coding scheme.
Their second reply hinted that I lacked intelligence - no more visits to Shell stations for me.
I guess they are loathed to admit any form of liabillity as it may open the floodgates for claims. It was the way the reply was worded that ed me off. Too much intellectual firepower can damage your common sense.

oooops, expensive mistake......The only thing I can add on this really is that you dont even need to drive the D3 when mis-fuelled to cause problems.
You fill it up, normally walk off to pay and lock the motor, pay the realise the beloved motor has £80 of unleaded , you go to the motor and unlock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By unlocking it purges the fuel forward, and already more parts need replacing.
What about that MIS-Fuel device we were talking about a group buy, maybe a mod would get onto it

Thanks very much chaps, if she had not started we would have been happy to have a crack at it, so have advised her to stick with L/Rover and learn from her mistake, she has not told her hubby yet.
Thanks again.
