Phone Scam

Be aware gents just had the nice Indian gent telling me my Internet might go off and on and he can help me sort it out.
Problem is he said he was from BT, I am with Virgin, so I let him prattle on and then told him to Censored off ..

Just be aware over xmas looks like they are having a xmas push knowing a lot of people will be home.

I always tell them they have been automatically transferred over to the Police fraudline - they soon hang up when i ask them to stay on the line for a few more seconds as we are just coordinating with Interpol to trace their call Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

These guys really Censored annoy the hell out of me. I must get half a dozen calls a week at work. What with them and the "I hear you've been involved in an accident".

If I knew where they traded from in the UK I think I'd pay them a visit and then they would have been involved in an accident and may need some help from BT to extract the Censored telephone from their Censored

Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone!!!! Rolling with laughter

Two personal victories for me:

First one was for the guy to tell me to get a piece of bamboo and shove it up my Censored .

Second was for another guy to call me back just to call me a Censored .

I felt that the 15 minutes spent on each call was well worth it.

I once kept one on the phone for over half an hour, him trying to get me to press win+R kept fumbling about can't find the win key, sorry, explain to me again where the win key is, no still can't see it, is it this one; you get the idea.

Once I got bored I said I'm really sorry but I don't think my Mac has a windows key. The response was priceless, silence for a few seconds then he says your using a Mac?, yes I say, called me something rude and hung up.

I don't have a Mac but it's a great way to wind them up and waste their time like they waste everyone else's.

I sometimes tell them I’ve a Mac or other times tell them I don’t have a pc. But recently I’m being plagued with calls to invest in Bitcoin

A mate used to interrupt the caller at the beginning and say "I'm interested but first I would like to tell you about Jesus". He would then launch forth at length, something at which he was brilliant and it didn't take long for the caller to hang up. He wasn't religious but he was a talker. Rolling Eyes

We have a BT phone with caller display and what they call Call Guardian. It screens the incoming calls. Anyone in your contacts gets straight through otherwise the caller has to state their name. Phone rings once and when you answer they are announced and you press a number to accept call once, always, send to answer machine or block at all times. Most calls are computer dialed and can't respond to being asked to identify itself so our phone rings once and that's all. We have had no cold calls in over two years. Great piece of equipment.

Linux is a good option as well. You might even get the chance to tell them about it as they are less likely to have heard of it than a Mac.

Never answer the land line, and any mobile number that catches me out gets added to blocked callers list and I reckon I might gat a call once a month or two, dont recognise them and hang straight up and add them to the list, strangely no one rings me!

The thing is they keep trying so they must succeed in some cases to make it worthwhile?
